How to clean a glass patio roof without streaks

Regular gentle cleaning works better than aggressive removal of months of residue. Seals, tracks and drainage are as important as the glass itself.

AT A GLANCE

Key points before making a decision

Safe cleaning of a glass patio roof: tools, sequence, products, pollen removal, drainage and a seasonal schedule.

01

A safe cleaning sequence

Remove leaves and loose grit, rinse with water, wash from the highest edge using a soft telescopic brush and finish with a squeegee.

  • do not walk on glass panels
  • avoid abrasive pads
  • do not wash hot glass
  • check gutters and outlets
02

What creates streaks?

Hard water, too much detergent and cleaning in direct sun are the most common causes. Demineralised water helps for the final rinse.

03

Seasonal schedule

Deep clean in spring, rinse lightly in summer, remove leaves in autumn and check drainage during winter thaw.

PRACTICAL CHECKLIST

What should you prepare before the survey and quotation?

A reliable quotation starts with a few concrete details. They help us select the right system, prevent changes during installation and compare solutions on equal assumptions.

01

Terrace dimensions and photographs

Measure the approximate façade width, projection and installation height. Include photographs of the full wall, corners and ground surface.

02

Sun exposure and indoor daylight

Identify the orientation and the hours of strongest sunlight. This influences the choice of glass, polycarbonate, louvres and solar protection.

03

Wind and driving rain

Indicate the prevailing wind direction. One carefully positioned sliding wall can sometimes improve comfort more effectively than enclosing the whole terrace.

04

Ground, drainage and services

Check what is below the paving, where foundations can be made and how drainage, LED wiring or automation power can be routed.

05

Colour and structural divisions

Prepare the window-frame colour or RAL code and decide which views should remain uninterrupted and where posts or glass joints may be acceptable.
